"Any and every American can be arrested by unaccountable authority, held indefinitely without charges and tortured until he or she can no longer stand the abuse and confesses.

This predicament, which can now befall any American, is our reward for our stupidity, our indifference, our gullibility, and our lack of compassion for anyone but ourselves."

Paul Craig Roberts Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan administration.

MY COMMENT:  As states and cities have financial short falls, police will be forced to try and increase revenues by writing tickets and making arrests.  The US (aka land of the free) looks to many to be a police state.

The US leads the world in population in per capita prision population, the Pew Center on the States reported that about 2.3 million people are incarcerated in state and federal prisons, and local jails. Last year, population grew by 25,000. After three decades of growth, prison population has tripled. (http://www.physorg.com/news126279826.html)
