Nothing is making sense to me right now

January 21, 2016 – Comments (2)

I've been busy with life and work and stuff so I've watching the market more from a distance.  But lately I've been paying much closer attention to whats going on.  And if there's anything I know, its that nothing is making sense to me right now.

- The Dow has made a 3000 point swing in less than a year

- The dollar is up, commodities are down across the board.

- Oil is less than $30 a barrel (really?).  But the Middle East is increasing production (why exactly?)

- Home prices are rising back to bubble levels in many areas across the country

- Precious metals are down

-  Inflation is non-existant.

- But the Fed is raising interest rates

- Wages are still stagnant

- Healthcare costs are higher than ever

- But the economy is doing just fine according to the media (nothing to see here)

Nothing makes sense and I'm left scratching my head wonder where is the next shoe going to drop.

You forgot to mention the billions in loans that the big banks have given to the shale and fracking companies.  Those companies will not be able to pay back their loans if oil remains low and the market is flooded with cheap oil (i.e. Iran).  Yes, nothing makes sense.  At this point, the only way to remain recession proof (for an indiviual) is to remain debt free.
