Nov 15, 2013 Benchmark Investing (BI) Selections
There are a few stocks to discuss this week, but there will be no changes in any of my holdings. Here is a snapshot of this week’s activities.
This week’s candidates:
C (Citigroup) http://caps.fool.com/Ticker/C.aspx– a Long position that continues to perform well behind improvements in topline and bottomline. Stock will likely have a long uptrend as it starts buybacks and dividend growth in the future. Decision: Hold
RF (Regions Financial) http://caps.fool.com/Ticker/RF.aspx– another Long position in the financial space. Company has done moderately well this year, but the future looks to have higher hurdles. Decision: Hold
AIG (American International Group) http://caps.fool.com/Ticker/AIG.aspx– a Long position that has continues to perform well and should continue to do so over the long-term, especially if they heighten dividends. Decision: Hold
HIG (Hartford Financial Services) http://caps.fool.com/Ticker/HIG.aspx– a Long position in the Insurance field that seems to be hitting its stride. Recent earnings release was very strong. Stock should continue to do well for some time in the future. Decision: Hold
YHOO (Yahoo!) http://caps.fool.com/Ticker/YHOO.aspx– A long position that might be running out of steam. Its price is a multi-year high. That said, much of the improvement seems to have come from expense management and share buybacks. Although I have not trimmed my position yet, it looks like I might in the near future.Decision: Hold
Every week a refresh of key financial data, stock prices, and economic data are evaluated. This information is analyzed using Kenneth Lee's selection process as described in “Trouncing the Down". Individual stocks are selected based on their relative valuation. The systematic approach allows for a scientific based decision making to buy and sell stocks. This mechanical investing approach has proven to yield superior results over time.
Each week a broad set of stocks are considered to be bought, sold, or held as part of the process. Also indicated is if the pick is a Long or Short candidate as well as if it they are New or Current holdings.
Tickers discussed here: C, RF, AIG, HIG, YHOO
