October Unemployment Rates By State

November 22, 2011 – Comments (0)

October numbers are out and away we go!

So nationally unemployment is down to 9% from 9.1%. Thirty-six states and DC saw drops in unemployment. Nine are flat and five are up. North Dakota's still the place to be and California and Nevada are not. It's still eye-opening I think to see Virginia and Maryland in the top 16 with the lowest and then DC in there at 49. I guess part of that is just living here in Virginia right next to DC and knowing how close we are all to each other. But the jobs are in Maryland and Virginia, not DC proper.

One thing is for sure, we are not out of the woods yet and I would expect to see that national rate bump up again sooner rather than later.

Foolish best,
