I think you can argue that it is simply the evolution here and they have to do something to separate themselves from the rest of the crowd.  I mean let's face it, coffee is not a high-barrier entry and they don't have the same swagger they once had.  Surely though if this moves forward it will have to be extremely limited; I mean you are turning it into a pub for cripe's sake.

Can you imagine the bar room brawl in a StarPub?  Dudes hurling laptops at each other, swatting each other with copies of the Journal and Times....

They used to put "booze" in coffee cups during prohibition, so maybe they are on to something.

I am partial to "Texas Tea". That's the regular iced tea with just a touch of "Black Jack" added for flavor.

You are right though, with everybody and his brother now offering similar products, they are losing some of their "cachet".

I always thought of them as mostly a marketing ploy anyway, kind of like Chivas did a long time ago to implant in the minds of the consuming public the idea that they were somehow a notch above other brands of scotch.
