According to the US debt clock we are only 861,485 about 3/4 of a million people away from 20 million people being unemployed.

How many illegal aliens are in the U.S.?

oh about 40 million. Actually about  40,907,722 So if we got rid of half do you think that would help with unemployment? What happens when the wars end and they come home. The ones who come home are having trouble.

I would estimate number of illegals closer to 20 mil, but nobody knows for sure. Probably only 50% of them currently working. They work in the hardest hit industries  too - restaurants, housing, landscaping.

If somehow they magically all ended up in Mexico overnight, that would help the unemployement situation , but not by much. If 20 mil people leave, you have resources freed up which will be good for schools and hospitals, but you also have fall in demand and that will hurt retailers and such.

Russiaan,if these jobs were filled by citizens who spent money HERE rather than send it home to Mexico, it would not only help the unemployment nos. but schools, hospitals, but the overall burden of welfare- including food stamps, ADC, subsidised housing, utilities, and costs associated with incarceration, (reported to be $100 Million in LA county or $1 Billion, just to the State of California, for illegals alone (as reported by the LA Times), how could it not HELP "retailers and such", as well as the greater economy as a whole.
By your nos. who is supporting the other 10 million who are not working? If that cost to society were to "go away", how would it hurt "retailers and such"? +1 rec Iquad.

Ok, so you want to work as a migrant fruit picker for half the minimum wage?  This is what most of the illegal immigrants I run into do for a living.

Yeah, and I don't think the fraction of that half-minimum wage that exits the US - you know, the part that isn't spent on subsistence - is that much of a concern for capital outflow.

It's certainly no more than a rounding error when compared to the debt servicing outflow to our foreign creditors. You know them? The ones who are financing citizens to live beyond their means?

no I want the migrant worker to get minium wage. I could also say let the White collard prisoners do the job. No more country club prision for them. I also think we should make the IMF and Bankers and Madoff do the work. I also want the dollar back to 1970 price, You know where 1.00 dollar in not worth 20 cents today.
