Howard Silverblatt, senior index analyst, at Standard & Poor's.

I warned you this day was coming.  Now the S&P has negative earnings and the outlook is even worse.  What is the value a stock market that LOSES money??????

Soon....everyone will understand the attitude of Alstry. 

Prepare...Don't Fear....the outlook is clear.....and it is now near......

You can't just discount the value of the individual companies, though. The index may have negative earnings, but some of what it consists of might not. I think that a lot of people who focus too much on the indices can't really see the forest for the trees. Finding a good value just requires some effort.

True...but you can extrapolate it to the revenues coming to government thru taxes and the consequences.....if no revenues are coming into government....then government is going to have to look someplace else for its money......comrade.

i was actually thinking about this al - forget the first quarter, what about the whole year?  Many of my red thumbs are on companies that have negative trailing EPS and negative forward EPS, and to me, most of those companies' common stock is worth zero. 

It's bad, and it's getting worse.
