I just added Pension Pulse to my reader.
I found a link to the Canada Pension Plan fund. It was over $120 billion and it is saying it is $108.9 billion as of Dec 31, 2008. Any bets on today's value?
This is what I was saying about the plan in 2007 in my post "The Pension Bet."
Wonderful to know that Canadians are paying extra into this fund right now and it lost all of our extra money we paid into it for 2008 plus some.
For the nine-month period ended December 31, 2008, the CPP Fund declined by $13.8 billion after operating expenses. The decline consisted primarily of an investment return of negative 13.7 per cent or negative $17.4 billion, offset by CPP contributions of $3.7 billion.
I guess the next report is out in 2-4 weeks. Any bets on how much more it lost?
