Unemployment Insurance Doesn't Work - By John Stossel
Boogpckr: I call your bluff.
If you really were starving (and were unable to get food from friends or family), I bet you'd resort to stealing food to survive. And if you were caught and put in jail for stealing, you'd get free food there. If you refused food in jail (i.e. went on a hunger strike) and died of starvation, you certainly wouldn't be remembered as a hero, although you might gain fame as one of the biggest fools in history.
But at least your death would be voluntary. In 16th century England, people were killed for being unemployed. Under King Henry the 8th, up to 72,000 people were executed for this reason.
