Vet,

Here is what I wrote in that post:

"I post because I want to share information and a viewpoint. I don't post to get recs per se, but the rec system is a useful way for the community to feed back what ideas it finds useful / agrees with / etc. I agree with Sinchi that comments are by far the most useful (well most the time at least), but the rec system is almost as important in providing feedback. And we now find out it is broken. This is very discouraging to say the least and I am very disappointed.. "

I was remarking that the system was broken, allowing multiple recs by simply clearing your internet history and re-reccing. This is obvoiusly as system flaw, as that was never the intention with the rec system.

I made no judgement at all on outside people reccing or on you.

Yet I get labelled a "clown" for pointing out a flaw?

... very nice..

Wil someone take offense if I rec this post. Isn't reccing kind of agreeing with the above? So I'm not going to rec.

Saw the blog post on the broken rec system. Thought it was fair to ask motley fool to rec it. Thought it was unfair to Vet in that his name was mentioned for having a bunch of recs, as if he was self reccing - no proof one way or the other, not stated explicitly, but sort of implied.

However, water off a ducks back if you ask me. You can only be offended by what you take offense at. If you know you aren't self reccing a million times, don't take offense.

Despite that no on on the clown list had any fault with Vet67to82 because he got rec's on people passing through and the two issues were:

1. People should not be allowed to make multiple REC's on the same blog post through a loophole.

2. Those passing through without an account should not have the REC button active.  It's easy enough to set up an account. Port has done it a dozen times! :)

No issues with Vet67to82 other than his blog rec count got noticed as it soared to the top five all time board from nowhere and lead to the realization that CAPS had changed something in a manner that had not been noted before.

Despite the above, you aren't going to change Vet67to82's mind. Apparently his issue is more than just the possibility that self recing was involved even though it was discovered links from outside caps had similar effects.  He doesn't like the way the game has been played in the past and he has every right to take his ball and go home.

============

"Duh 101" back to Vet67to82

Having the REC button available to those who come in from outside the site has ZERO bearing on click throughs.  They can click their way into the site just as easy either way.

In regard to your comment on TMFCHarris, I believe the "top DUH" you gave him was based on one of my comments, not his.   (#44)

As for me I made no statement that even concerned you, so I don't see why I am on the list; unless of course you just posted a list of everyone who commented on RVA's blog. Since that is what it looks like that suggests to me that you disagree with anyone who wants to stop the current rec policy, since that was the topic of the blog and discussion.

That in turn suggests that you have something against the policy itself. Something that I seem to think would be difficult to explain if one did not have some sort of vested interest in continuing this policy. You get the picture.

I assume, and hope, that I am just jumping to conclusions here and that you have no such interest.

Vet - I have no problem with you. I have historically just complained about andrewgreenbull, only because I questioned the legitamacy of the recs, which to me looked like a classic pump and dump. TMF says they have investigated, so this is at least possibly not the case.

That being said... putting those that you disagree with on a clown list = ignore feature for you. (Oh wait, TMF does not have that, so time to retire again)

Here's another DUH back to you...

Searchbots for search engines do ZERO calculations. They just search. Yes, you have an unusual username. That puts you tops of any bot finds with that search term.

SO......  WE can all google our usernames and find hits depending on how prolific we are on CAPS or any other users board.

There are plenty of CAPS players who write BLOGS with thousands of search engine hits.  Congratulations!

"YOU weren't satisfied, Zacks ... got some of the blame ... but there's MORE",

WHO out of all the dozens of CAPS players you DUH'd werent' satisfied. FIND even one.  No problem, you got outside recs. Congrats for being prolific as long as it's not in bearing children.

The Issue is that the system is broken. It has NOTHING to do with CAPs wanting Click through money. The REC button doesn't need to be blindly light up like a Christmas tree for multiple recs, insiders or not. Outsiders can open an account if they want recs.

The concern was open REC's and the chance to have repeat RECs.

You have made the battle something else.   I doubt anyone knows what you think it is at this point, other than you think you were wronged and you're looking for action.

You have yet to point out where anyone said or did anything to you after the information became available about how open the rec system had become, to repeat recs and outside recs.

AS far as whether the rec system should be open or not, it's for MF to decide, but people have had a chance to leave their opinion, you are entitled to yours. Your theories on how MF promotes itself has nothing to do with the concerns raised.

It would be so much easier for everyone if you just went away, like you said you would.

Vet,

MF has no obligation to delete your posts.  If you're so intent on leaving because of some perceived slight, feel free to do so.  If you plan to stick it out instead, feel free to explain HOW have you been slighted by the "clown" community...because I still don't see it.

I had never mentioned your name, and never read your blogs until now...so the only thing that I can gather from this is that you're upset that I've voiced an opinion on the open rec policy (and by open, I mean someone not needing to sign up for a FREE Motley Fool account in order to rec, thereby opening the door to invalidating the rec feature).

All of that being said, you sure are protesting a lot over this, and have planted a seed of suspicion in my mind now as to why.

You know Vet67to82 after more thought today, you are absolutely right. I'm not sure why I didn't see it before.  It's great that we have people like you to keep perspective!

I'm really sorry I argued with you, demeaned you, accused you, disagreed with you, or any combination,  or anything else you think I did.  You are absolutely right in everything you said.

The DOW had an 800 Point swing today.  I bought and sold, moved some limits set some limits and had a wild day. I have no idea why I spent part of it debating with you. Again, you are completely correct in everything.  My sincere apologies for anything I did or you perceived I did.

There's bound to be some great blogs on how to deal with the DOW on an 800 point range day.  I'll go find some and give them some rec(s).

Good luck with whatever it is you are looking for or need.

Vet67to82,

I enjoy thoughtful and intelligent debate, but I apparently can't get that when you are on the other end of the debate.  I have a different opinion than you but I have nothing against you personally, so relax, and enjoy the community.  There is no reason for name calling.

I will second what TSIF said:

Good luck with whatever it is you are looking for or need.

This is hilarious. I wish I had made the clown list...

Your list of clowns are some of the nicest, most helpful people I have ever met on Fool. I can't imagine how you could possibly be so mad at them??

I wouldn't be the investor I was today if it weren't for them.

Thanks:

Option1307, ChrisGraley, danielthebear, UltraLong, bullishbabo, lemoneater, binve, chk999, DarkToast, TSIF, and Cato!

You should all get together and start a clown college! I would definitely sign-up for the 4 year program.

Have a good week Vet!

This ends up being the highest recommended post of all time...

no wonder I stopped blogging after they changed the "rec" system...

Is that why I want my own pond or why I dropped from the "ranked in the top 5% of our community"?

Or did I just stop playing the game?
