The cure for high prices is high prices. It is very interesting timing that Exxon is selling all of its' Gas stations. It reminds me of time when Real Estate Tycoon Sam Zell sold all of his real estate in 2006.

Barrons Today has front page Oil Bubble. I guess they read my 16 June Post:

Popping the Oil Bubble (Part 1): Honda Begins Production of Hydrogen Cars

Last night, thru the magic of Netflicks I watched the movie "Who Killed the Electric Car?" I think it is outstanding. Definately,  worth  watching for anyone: long oil, GM, peak oil believers etc....

I found many of the clips on Youtube, but it is definately worth a rental.

Those are the first 5 parts. The rest are at youtube.com Under: Who Killed the Electric Car?

Hydrogen -- Are you serious? And you insulted solar? C'mon now...

Hydrogen fuel cells would be a greater scam than ethanol by 10-fold.

If oil were to reach $150 a barrell I would write a derivative with anyone willing to buy at $150(in 07' dollars) 10 years from now. I've said plenty of times that these prices are unsustainable long-term.

I'm glad you watched that video. I wrote a blog about the movie earlier this month. I don't know if you read it or not...

Anomlee,

Thank you for the reply. I just read your post. Great post! Sorry, I did not see your post,  before otherwise I would have used it as a reference.

I am wrong on solar. I just realized it last night when I saw the film. In the last segment the old guy, who created the car battery, also created  a great and viable solar pannel!

As of last night:

I am an oil bear (although I think it will goto short term $175 as predicted 30 Dec 08) and a solar bull! But not all solar stocks are winners, most/many are  momentum garbage.

FYI - Take a look here:

Inside the Solar-Hydrogen House: No More Power Bills--EverA New Jersey resident generates and stores all the power he needs with solar panels and hydrogen:

Like I said, As of today I'd much rather see changes in ethanol production before I see hydrogen fueling stations or something similar. The problem with hydrogen fuel remains that more energy is used to separate the Hydrogen and Oxygen molecules. The covalent bonds of water are a pain in the ass for our modern understanding, but it isn't as great of a problem when you're using a high energy reaction such as the greatest energy source in our solar system -- the sun...

Also, do you know which company Ovshinsky founded and is currently the largest retailer of the same thin-film technology as your last video?

Answer: Energy Conversion Devices [Ticker: ENER]

I believe in not too far we will be driving electric cars; but for the next 10 years oil demand will continue to rise.  You have to ask yourself: Can you see a CAT backhoe running on solar power or battery power only within 10 years? I can't.

Also there is very promising results from algae to oil, which may stem the tide of the drop in oil supply.

In the interim, I will stick with my predictions: 200/barrel by 2010 now a 95% chance of happening, with an outside chance of happening this year in which case I may move that target up to 300/bbl.  It's more about the currency manipulation than the supply anyway.

They have a plan B thou.  Global warming boogeyman.  Carbon cap and trade system(if they cannot control the oil supply and demand they will control the carbon emissions!). I doubt these countries will pay much attention to it thou.

Pop the oil bubble or pop the US dollar?

If this goes terribly wrong we may be talking about horse and buggy not electric cars.

AnomaLee,

Great video. ENER has gone parabolic, but I would have liked it before the run up.

Demon,

I am holding onto $175 oil, unless the US citizens become violent then they will reduce the price.

jahbu,

I have seen the guy, but I have nt read his book. I will take a look.

Westchester's Castle Hotel Powers Rooms With Wind, Eco Bulbs

Commentary by Mike Di Paola

June 19 (Bloomberg) -- Perched in the hills of Tarrytown, 25 miles north of New York City in Westchester County, the Castle on the Hudson hotel is a tremendous Normanesque pile of crenellated granite, built as a private residence between 1897 and 1910.

This giant anachronism isn't stuck in the past when it comes to meeting its energy needs. In April, the hotel began buying wind power from Juice Energy Inc., which costs about three percent more than conventionally generated electricity. The hotel can afford the eco-friendly ethic thanks to a pricing deal in which it pays a locked-in rate for 90 percent of its energy needs and the fluctuating market rate for the remainder.
