To my friends and fellow Fools,

Many of you do not believe in the same God that I do, nor in His ability to work miracles.  You think that this is not a proper forum for religious views and I respect that.  Nonetheless, I am praying for those of you who are in the path of Hurricane Sandy and the destruction that will follow.  I pray especially for those who put themselves in harm's way by choosing to act as police, fire fighters, rescue personnel, medical personnel, and military of all sorts who will brave this storm in order to help others.  I know that good intentions do not provide a shield from what harm may befall them.  A special prayer to those brave soldiers who continue to march before the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington.  They are in the path of the storm and held there by an ideal.

May God see us all safely through this "perfect storm" and its aftermath.  I will hold you in my thoughts and prayers.

Blessings and safety to all of you,

Mary

To those who may not be aware, Wall Street and the stock markets will remain closed Tuesday because New York City is in the path of this storm.  More information may be found here.  http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/2b10fd5e-21e5-11e2-9ffd-00144feabdc0.html#axzz2AkiyZrWE

This is mainly for those Fools who are not in the US and Canada.  The storm will sweep through large portions of both North American countries.

Hey Mary,

Do you really think this will have any impact on global markets?  I think it won't.  Aside from power disruptions I can't see how it can.

My prayers are all of those affected.

NOTvuffett,

I make it a point not to invest or give opinions where I am hopelessly ill equipped to make any sense at all.  I have no idea how this will impact the rest of the world.  There are large sections of my investing that I leave to others who have proven track records in my weak areas. I do know that prayer is a powerful force.  I am sure yours help.  :)

Well praying for the well being of others is a positive event in my opinion.  Being in harms way myself I can only hope that events do not turn ugly. Sadly people will die as happens during natural events.  I can only hope that people behave prudently.

Glad to hear that, AC.  My email changed and took all of my folders and contacts so I lost everyone's contact info.  Drop the @charter.net and replace with 99 at att.net to get the new one.  Some one already had my email name with att, so I added numbers.  (Goes for anyone who had my email)

We have snow with drifts up to 4' in some mountain areas.  Amazing.  Stay warm and dry and pass my greetings to others from the warm, sunny South. *grin*

And yes I did stay up all night praying for you all to be safe.  Take good care, everyone!

Along with Mary I hope and pray that all Motley Fool employees and members are safe.  Hopefully the headquarters was not flooded.  Our thoughts are with you as you clean up after this terrible disaster.
