QE3 Buys New Highs

September 16, 2012 – Comments (4)

The merits of QE3 are certainly debatable, but its initial impact on markets isn't.  Six, count 'em six, stocks in my portfolio hit new 52-week highs on Thursday following the QE3 annoucement and then all six did it again on Friday.

That seemed like a good chance to debut 52-week high-ku mixed with a little QE commentary in a Fool article. Hope it hits at least one of "educate, amuse, & enrich."

As always, comments or questions are welcome.

Fool on!

I am a stats guy. Can I ask how many stocks are in that portfolio total?  I was just wondering. My guess is 19.

Good guess.  There are 19 stocks and one currency etf - FXA - in the portfolio.

I put a little thought into it before I guessed 19. The other day I heard roughly 22% of the S&P was trading at 52 week highs. Then I looked at your accuracy rating on CAPS then ran a quick ratio an came up with 21. But then I also gave you a little better % on the 6 because your average pick score was above 14 which is pretty darn good considering you mainly make green thumb picks and you pick some of the names I like myself. Well that is how I came up with the number. Don't know if you wanted to know that. Sorry I am crazy.. well have a good day and hopefully you retire rich.

Thanks for explaining how you came up with the number, I was a little curious.
