As I understand the information vacuumed up by our national security folks, our spooks are looking at who talks to whom rather than what is said. Nevertheless, it seems like a number of people are about to launch ballistically over this supposed abrogation of our rights.

Is this the proverbial slippery slope? Will warrantless searches of this type significantly degrade our liberties?

I don’t think so. Personally, I would like our side to know the phone numbers of the evil doers in our midst.

Come on people, isn’t this a small price to pay against the possibility that a mouthy bad guy is identified in this way? Have we learned nothing about our enemies since September 11, 2001?

I don’t know if these events cut one way or the other with respect to Jive Software (JIVE), since I don’t really know what their software does. But, my guess is it’s probably a wash.

Just one man’s opinion I suppose.

Well I have made similar arguments.  To me it is about reasonable expectations privacy.  I guess many forget or don't even realize that before the Ma Bell split we used to get itemized bills showing the phone numbers we called.  So it was ok for the printer to see them but heaven forbid we use that public information to track down the guys that want to blow us up.

It just annoys me that people give freely a ton of information to FaceBook to sell but feign umbrage should simple info be used to safeguard us and our children.

And you get a rec for trying to be clever with tickers ;)
