Red Flags at Repros (RPRX)

January 11, 2009 – Comments (6) | RELATED TICKERS: RPRX

Appears this company (RPRX) is the same as Zonagen (ZONA). They just changed names in 2006. The same management team is running the RPRX ship as ran ZONA's. While I'm no expert on biochemistry, I'd say their past is a bit, um, checkered. Check out this article from the Motley Fool which ran a decade ago (!) to see the sort of trouble Zonagen (now Repros) ran into. Remember, you can sell short RPRX directly or buy puts. I own the Jan 15's and will be buying May 10's tomorrow.

The Motley Fool article had a dead link in it to another story, anywhere, here is the correct link to that one--it is also good for a laugh.

Invest carefully, Fools, invest carefully...

As a side note, where'd the Daily Trouble article feature from the Motley Fool go? I wish it a speedy return. I've seen several of these now and they're brilliant and make me laugh. Then again, Zonagen and their drug Vasomax were quite a hoot in and of themselves.

I am pretty new to the shorts.  I should say I have never done it but have been really interested and done lost of research.  I do not think I would short RPRX but I do respect your opinion goldmin.  Do you have any others that you are eyeing on the shorts or making puts on.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

That old Fool article on ZONA is so great! We need a return of funny, critical-thinking articles to TMF. While caution is back in style, so many articles just seem like bland advertisements for stocks.

Fun reading about all this with you. :)

This article and blog post only touched the surface of the collage of curiosities at ZONA/RPRX. For instance, why was the company sued by a Bonita Dunbar--the doctor responsible for the company's first (failed) product? Or, why is RPRX's new director running double duty also doing directing duties at British firm whose stock trades in the pennies? So many questions, only one blog brings you the answers.
