I recently applied as a potential candidate for hire with RHI in their Cleveland office.

I disclosed that I have a disability and recieved some of the most clever discrimination I have seen to date.

For any organization to succeed, they must instill a level of morality and commitment beginning with top level management and ending with direct sales agents when dealing with persons with disabilities.

The Cleveland office shows absolutely no evidence of compassion towards persons with disabilities.

My qualifications show otherwise, as I am currently holding a 3.9 as an undergrad, and I am strongly connected to nonprofits worldwide through my volunteer work.

RHI Motto: "Who cares about diversity as I need to make a buck".

Would you be willing to perhaps share what the so-called discrimination was?

And just a FYI, I've gone through RHI before with the same GPA as you and I had a hard time finding a job as well....in 2006/'07.  Have you ever considered that it may not be your disability and just the fact that there are more qualified people in the queue?  GPA means almost nothing in the professional world (as I found out rather harshly) and experience goes a long way.

If you want a job, I'd be very tenacious with whatever staffing agency you work with (call them; don't wait for them to call you about jobs) and I'd network like mad.  My career began only when a friend that I had from school had to leave her job and she set me up to take over for her with a good recommendation.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Why don't you work for one of the NGO's your connected with?  And why should RHI hire you?  I think you need more than a 3.9 and a disability for employment, ofcourse I don't know what your disability is, then again I don't think it matters.  Like cizastro said, experience is important, so is personability and other personal traits.  However the wording of your original post suggests they should have hired you based on those two merits.

Best of luck,

J

Both of your comments are derived from making assumptions. You are assuming that there was not discrimaination yet you have no evidence to support your findings.

I am not going to share the nature of the discrimination because it is irrelevant at this point.

I never stated that RHI had or had not hired me, I only stated that they discriminated against an individual with a disability.
