Great argument by Ron.
Warren's approach assumes that the government arrived at providing those services through voluntary means in open competition. Incorrect. The government is the "marauding herd" she claims to be protecting us from.
I like my toilet example. If the government monopolized the toilet making industry, by the use of violence, should I then thank my wise masters everytime I take a dump? Should I happily accept this social "contract" and donate my hard earned money because I am forced to use government toilets?
Elizabeth has no understanding of the market. This is why she is where she is, using force to get her way. She doesn't understand that market is a place where selfishness and narcissism go to die. You can't serve others if you only care about yourself. In the market you must serve others. You must take orders from others, either bosses or customers. You can't force anyone to do anything. Only the government can do that. Elizabeth belongs in government where she can give orders that are backed by a gun, rather than orders that arise from voluntary cooperation.
It's true that we all owe somebody else for laying the groundwork for our success. But that somebody else made our lives more productive through voluntary efforts at capital growth in market exchanges. Government only destroys wealth and destroys capital. So no, Elizabeth, we don't owe you or the government anything. We owe our bosses and our customers the services we have promised in exchange. That is all we owe.
Warren is wrong "because she is a socialist"?
Paul is wrong becasue he is a libertarian.
"Let's abandon this Democratic decision making and just let a business run everything". George Washington, 1780
Devoish - who thinks foreign ownership of roads, or private ownership of roads, is a bad idea.
Private ownership of roads would be very beneficial.
Private police forces already do a better job at lower cost than public police forces do, today. Private fire protection services have done the same and are only pushed out of the competitive market by the force of government.
Private education does a much better job, more efficiently, especially home schooling, than public education.
Here's a clear rebuttal of Warren's ideas:
Elizabeth doesn't even get to be an American in America.
Who else do libertarians want to disown?
You could not have made a more revealing argument against libertarian ideas.
