While I read many sad stories of Rosetta Stone software not working for people, this one was too funny to pass up. http://how-to-learn-any-language.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=23075&PN=1

bcurtis wrote: Hello everyone! I am learning Spanish with Rosetta Stone... The words He, Te, Me, Has, Han, and Le give me a little trouble. Here is what I know about them so far...

Lingoleng wrote: (a detailed explanation of the pronouns) ... These little words, pronouns, are tricky in Spanish, so it is not explained in two words, but for a start this may help you.

Lingoleng,

he hablado- couldn't you also say yo hablado?

has hablado- couldn't you also say usted or tu hablado?

hemos hablado- couldnt you also say nosotros hablado?

han hablado- couldnt you also say ellos hablado?

Hello Bryan, if it is true that you have been trying to learn Spanish for 9 months now, then you must change something, things are not going well. I am not trying to be unfriendly, really not, but this way you will never learn it.

I don't know Rosetta Stone, and I don't care, but give the program a break, take your time, make a new start, maybe after reading for a while in this forum, there are many good tips and hints, for every taste and level, and I am sure you can find something that suits you. But don't waste your time.

Stock outlook: Very negative.

Also, for all you curious on my thoughts on companies not named Rosetta, I reiterate my red thumbs on NFLX, PCLN and Allied Nevada Gold. All of them should fall at least 80% in the next couple of years.

I would say that PCLN looks overvalued, can't agree with NFLX.

All the experiences I've heard about RS have been negative.  With a truly global economy and the internet, I have to imagine there's better models than spending a ridiculous amount of money on a boxed softward suite.  Heck, with free dictionaries, a wealth of free books and news sources online, and enough time, most anyone could learn a language with enough patience.

On the bright side, at least RS is valued somewhat close to its actual current earnings, which is more than I can say for CRM, PCLN, and god knows how many others.  If this keeps up we're heading for Tech Crash 2.0.  Cloudburst, maybe?

I tried Rosetta Stone (Latin American Spanish)

I couldn't do it.  The pace was too slow - and I usually have patience with learning new things.  I spent about 2 months on it and just dropped it.

I work with a few mexicans and they have taught me more in casual, everyday conversations with them than I learned from Rosetta Stone.  That's what I call immersion learning.

Fortunately for me, I was using a friend's computer that had it installed so I didn't actually pay any money for it...

I apologize - I should have capitalized "Mexicans"
