Dear Fools,

Well we had our first “major” snow of the year yesterday here in Northern Virginia. Thankfully it was not too debilitating and we were able to keep it pretty much business as usual. But it got me to thinking about my younger days as a Boy Scout and the Boy Scout motto: Be prepared.

In investing things happen pretty quickly. And if you aren’t paying attention things can fly right by you. That is why it pays to make sure that you always have some cash on hand in your portfolio and you always have a well-researched watchlist that is ready to go at a moment’s notice.

Here at The Motley Fool, we have a great tool that can help you build your watchlist. Ironically enough it is called “My Watchlist” and it's a great new way for you to not only build a list of companies that you are interested in, but also to catch up on any of the latest news or happenings on any of the companies on your watchlist. We even have a survey for users to communicate feedback on how we can make My Watchlist even better. Because let’s face it, the only way we can truly understand how to make it better for you is for you to tell us.

So check out My Watchlist today and start building a watchlist of your own. Because when the time comes and your stocks go on sale, you won’t want to be left out in the cold.

Fool on!

Activision Blizzard

It should be no surprise that Activision Blizzard’s latest release, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm set a record. Specifically, Cataclysm sold 3.3 million units in its first day on the market and became the fastest selling PC game ever. These events are nothing new for our global gaming powerhouse and with management looking toward new releases, expansion packs and even potential movie experiences, Activision Blizzard needs to be viewed as an entertainment company, not just a video game company. That said, we are happy to sit back and wait patiently as the market tries to make up its mind about something that we already know: Activision Blizzard is here to stay.

Dick's Sporting Goods

I keep waiting for the market to kick this one to the curb or for a general pullback to bring the price down a little bit, but this may take some patience still. It looks like sporting goods retailers in general are seeing more activity as well as the economy continues to slowly recover.

It's All About the Motley

Check it out; here is a brief video with some insight to the motley portfolio and things I look for in investments.
