One thing I have learned in 7 decades of observing the actions of mankind, is that almost everything we do, we tend to "overdo".

This applies to both positive and negative actions.

Someone decideds that "something" needs to be done about a "problem", either real or perceived, and they set out to make it happen.

Potential Growth or Pure Speculation?

I have looked at and have them all on my Watchlist at significantly lower start prices than they are currently selling for, but I am still having a hard time making up my mind as to whether or not they have actual future potential, or are pure speculation plays.

I am talking about telecommunication sector small caps IQNT and TLAB, and solar sector micro invertor supplier ENPH.

DCIX has indicated that they will be releasing their Q3 report information prior to the market opening on Monday morning, the 19th of November, and I think there is a very good possiblilty for a surprise to the upside.

Investors have been focused on the fact that some of their "high rate" charters will be "rolling off" in early to mid 2013, and seem to have overlooked the fact that this is...

My CAPS score has fallen over 80% in the past 6 weeks and at the rate I am falling, I should get my Beanie before the end of the month.

I have been trying to understand the reason for these wild swings in the market "post election', and to some extent, for a period of time before.

Prior to the election, I assumed the "swings" were due to the uncertainty of the outcome, but since the markets "crashed"...

Ridiculously High Forward P/E

This is just a quick look at the 2013 P/E's for DCIX and DSX which are shown on Yahoo Financial, provided by ZACK'S.

First, a brief look at the balance sheet (as of the end of Q2) for DSX.

They are showing cash at more than $400M, which is greater than the total liabilities for the company. They showed equity of 2.6 times the total debt.

Just a quick "heads up" on why DCIX shares are falling this morning.

They are issuing between 8M and 9M (depending on whether or not the underwrites decide to buy an "overage" allotment), at $6.25 per share.

Don't mean this to sound like "sour grapes", but after noticing a red thumb on a stock that I own, which is up over 100% for me in real life, and at its 11 month high, I went to take a look at the poster's CAPS page to see what their "track record" has been.

It is interesting to see that right now, less than one quarter of one percent of the outstanding shares have actually driven DCIX back down to an attractive buying price.

I will admit that they are hard to understand right now, with the addition of new vessels, and draw down of an RBS line of credit ot over $90M, but they still have what is probably the strongest balance sheet in the shipping industry.

Diana Containerships just announced the purchase of two more vessels, now brining their total up to nine.

These come with two year charters at $24,750 per day, and are expected to increase revenue by about $16.75M per year.

They will be taking delivery in the 1st quarter.

There appears to be some erroneous information on some of the web sites concerning DCIX.

For example, the "street insider" shows their Q3 dividend of $0.15, as an "annual" dividend, rather than a "quarterly" dividend, and has them yielding 3%, instead of 12%.

For some reason, my post on DCIX from yesterday morning disappeared (along with several others).

Don't know if there is a "glitch" in the system, or if this is a change that CAPS has made, and I just missed it, but I think the information is useful enough for investors that I decided to repost it.

Here is a long for yesterdays blog.

DCIX reported Q3 earnings this morning before the market opened, and they did even better than expected.

They have declared a quarterly dividend of $0.15 per share, for an annualized dividend of $0.60, or about 12% at yesterdays closing price of just under $5.00.
