Same with the kids.  Sure hope the victims at least chase them all, since apparently the Feds don't care.

She could actually be bumming very hard financially already. She's allowed to stay there for now, but once that penthouse on East 64th is sold out from under her she will be officially homeless, and with very few supporters or friends left who might be willing or able to help her out. And then you look at her mounting legal fees and the fact that she could (and most certainly will) face individual lawsuits by Madoff investors, and that $2.5M might effectively be gone already.

So if she did in fact play a role in the scheme, then she is surely getting her just desserts. And if she didn't, then wow. I wouldn't even know what to say, other than it's very unfortunate for her that she happened to marry such a creep.

One thing she could do which wouldn't cost a cent and would be at least a step forward in helping to rehabilitate her image would be to public express some honest remorse to the victims of the scheme. She is supposedly filled with remorse for the victims in private amongst her few remaining friends, but those are sentiments which she obviously needs to express to the victims themselves, and it's just shameful that she hasn't done that yet.

I can only hope that no Madoff (Made-Off) actually ends up Making-Off with any money or assets and they all end up bankrupt or worse.  Anyone believing that Bernie's accountant (& wife) who oversaw the comingling of monies personal & customer-funds could be anyhow innocent does not deserve the title of a "Motley Fool", but just a "Genuine Fool".

Personally I agree with "ocsurf" that they both can burn in hell, I just wish they could be burned alive here on earth first, that might discourage a few copy-cats.

Apparently that link is not working because I used Safari to post it. Here's the article it's supposed to link to:

Ruth giving up claims on $80mm, but not exactly going to be a pauper keeping $2.5mm.

Is what Bernie did a whole lot different than what the Too-Big-to-Fail banks did?  They can all rot.
