Here's a story that really got me, a newborn was mauled to death by a dog and now the mother and grandmother have been arrested with criminal negligence.

They had left the baby in a car seat on the second floor of the home and had gone to the garden.  For anyone with children, who hasn't left a sleeping baby in a car seat or some kind of seat and gone to do something for a while?

I have a friend who's baby died in her sleep over 20 years ago and the pain she lives with is obvious.  She once told me what happened, how she came to the crib and her baby was stiff like a board.  The total panic came back to her voice as she told me what happened.  These women will live with their painful loss for life and to press charges is insane.

Stupid Quebec, this is the same province that shelters Karla Holmolka and lets that monster go on and have her own children when she feed 3 girls to her boyfriend, one her own sister.

Seriously, it is this kind of crap that exists in the world for why I chose Making Sense of My World for my other blog.  I ended up writing more about investments and economics, but it wasn't what I had planned to write about.

Regarding Karla Holmolka, I grew up in St. Catharines and the number of connections I have to her and Paul and everything they did without having personally knowingly crossed their paths (although I'm sure I probably did dozens of times) is seriously, seriously creepy.

That may be true, but have a little common sense not to leave the child alone with a dog. I have a Yellow Lab and I still NEVER left the baby alone with her. The dog may think they're just playing with the baby when really they are mauling her.

 I was living in Mississauga when Bernardo starting his raping spree.  I always had a feeling the rapes before he advanced to murder were particularly sadistic because the media warning was so powerful.  There have been rapists out there in all places, but I'd never noticed such a vigilant media.
