Search for a Winner Contest

Pick Requirements
All picks must have the letter combination “MAR” in the company name. How do you find companies with MAR in their names? Use the search box on the top of every CAPS page – enter MAR and hit “Search CAPS.” On the right side of the results page will be a partial list of companies that match – you can see more by clicking the “View All Results” link.

How Many Picks?
You only need one pick to be active in the contest, and you can have up to 9. Outperform and underperform picks are allowed. Picks cannot be ended, though, so choose wisely.

Time Frame
This contest will run from August 11, 2008 to September 26, 2008, and the winner will be decided on September 29.

Prize
If there are fewer than 1,000 players in the Search for a Winner Contest when it closes, the winner will receive one free year of Motley Fool Stock Advisor. If there are more than 1,000 players, the winner will get a check equal to the number of players (up to $2,000).

If more than 1,000 players enter this contest, the next contest will have a prize of $1,500, but if fewer than 1,000 players enter, the next contest will have a $250 purse.

We're trying to tie contests into new CAPS features, and this seemed like a good way to highlight the new search. We ended up using MAR because companies with that letter combination in their names span a variety of sectors.

MAR needs to be in the company name. The ticker MAR has MAR in the company name as well, so you are good there too.

Silly as it is, I guess it does highlight new CAPS features. Better an education in features than trying to guess this crazy market in such a short time as 7 weeks.

Yes, it still doesn't work;

- I type "mar" (with quotes) in the CAPS search bar.

- It return me with a section called "Companies" with;

Wal-Mart, WFMI, FMD, MVL and MKL

- at the bottom of that section it show;

View All Results (164)

- when I click on it, i got;

Results 0 - 0 of 0  

Sorry, no results found.

It looks like you are doing a search for "mar", not mar. If you remove the quotes, the link will work.

I'm also putting in a bug about the search with quotes.
