Shark vs. Shark at Mall of America; Severe Recession Fears in Fish Tank

February 27, 2008 – Comments (10) | RELATED TICKERS: SCC , RTH

Since fish can count, the shark has a ring side seat to the amount of foot traffic at the Mall of America.

The shark must have been fearing a slow down in the economy and did what any carnivore would do:

Is the shark more accurate at prediciting a recession then a ground hog can predict a longer winter? You can decide for yourself....

AS Bernakee lowers the fed fund rate the cost of Oil and grains increase as wages won't go up. Follow the money. Short MA long visa and the fed beggs for more time. If people took their money out of the banks ie bac and country wide the failure of the banks would trigger a run on all banks in my humble opion. In my shearch for fowlling the money Dear lquadland10,

Stockpickr member you have bookmarked, michael morse, replied a question
"Special Review- A Quick Glance into Visa-

Some Basic-
A) I realized something here which is important you go to the bank you apply for
a check card or debit card , well their MOSTLY visa based now
B) What does this mean well visa has more than enough cash it will use a lot of
it to bail out banks (3 billion )
C) The total ipo is supposed to range from 13-19 billion dollars the largest in
history
D) If your betting on one bank to benefit from the ipo offerings its JPM who
already has a pretty good balance sheet and holds a 1.1 billion stake in the IPO
(ironic since it holds chase)
E) Other notable banks include Citigroup, bac, gs,wells fargo, us bank corp. And
the underwriters will be JPM and GS
F) How can you get in before the IPO call your brokerage and ask if they have
any connections with either GS or JPM.
G) So VISA will plan to repurchase shares from these banks at a higher cost so
these banks can use their new capital to pay off debt. Sounds like good
prospects for the IPO.
H) And here are some stats about VISA: with a 3.48 billion dollar cash flow, a
79% market share, lower transaction fees vs MA, and emerging in more
international markets – V holds a large advantage over MA
I) did you know BAC last October started a reward program card with visa also?

The Fine things in line!-
1. proportionally MA carries more charges offs than visa (http://www.creditbloggers.com/2006/03/credit_card_sta.html)
2. fraud losses are proportionaly higher for MA also
3.Market share for Visa is 54% that needs to be changed and is my fault
(http://www.creditcards.com/statistics/credit-card-industry-facts-and-personal-d
ebt-statistics.php)
4. while MA has only 29%
5. MA carries more /higher transaction costs and was recently criticzed by the
EU
6.lloyds tsb, coop, barclays and abbey are UK banks that issue Visa

And these are just the jokes in life-
1. the IPO works like this it mergers Visa Canada, international, and domestic together for one big publically traded company
2. western european visa will be separate

3. so no doubt in the next 3-4 years your going to see the international division (which i have listed) grow in those areas. But the question will be down the road will they spin it off as its own seperate entity.

4. Visa also became the FIFA sponser for 2010..huge for their international attention

5. MA well it doesnt even have close to that amouunt of international exposure

6. International Visa includes: Visa Latin America [LAC], Visa Asia Pacific and Visa Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa [CEMEA]

7. Eastern Europe and Asia will become their own entities and HUGE for the company

And I don’t believe the date for the IPO is finalized.

I figured it was time for some humor, in my posts. The post could have been funnier?

To clarify:

The shark must have been fearing a slow down in the economy and did what sharks do, it ate another competitive fish.

I just finished: The Biography of Chairmen MAO, Black Swan and Millionaire Mind. Read the Millionaire Mind or the Millionaire Next Door.

Despite all my Bearish talk, after reading how bad MAO and China was. I do not ever, ever think the US will be that bad.

No I don't think so either. You know I was listening to Buffett the other day and this Idea just popped into my head the when he said that when you invest you invest in the company. It bothered my for a while until I substituted people for company. Then it made sense for me. If you look at his house it is a nice house but not a mc mansion. The book I read when it first came out was the mill. next door. I sold a ton of them then and it is starting to come back. Have you ever watched the Susie Orman show?  She started out as a waitress and she also has good common sense. I am so glad we paid off all credit card dept the house is paid for and so is the car. Now all I need to do is get my son to get his car paid off and set up a roth IRA and he will be  doing very well. I finally figured out what was triggering all this fear. I was 5 when the news interrupted  my cartoons that Kenadey was killed. Vietnam, Nixon, Regen, and so up the line. And here we start all over again. It just triggered the old fears and helplessness. I see such wealth and the item on t.v. of a 3.000.00 dollar desert triggered the past and present of how after 40 years there are still starving children not only in this country but around the world. Thats why I like the micro lending. It by passes the world bank who charges intres to some of the poorest country's in the world. It is slowly changing and little by little it will get much better. I am seeing more glimmers and I remind myself that ( book) as a man thinkest  So  as usual I go back to looking  at the good that is gaining ground and working to help change minds. Take care. lq
