and some are actually green today? Does this mean that the Chinese market retrace is over before it started? Yeah I know the Chinese markets down nearly -30% in a month but still I expected bigger re-trace.

Barely down Chinese stocks: LFC, FUQI, CGA , chln, chbt, ntes, cmed, chdx, hqs,

Up Chinese stocks : PSOF,  WUHN, RINO, TPI, sdth, SVA, ctrp

Can't believe I up 45% on SVA in a few days time.

Now if ETFC can do that in the next few days it will really make my week.

You might want to have a look at these indices.

The Bank of New York Mellon China ADR Index (1)
Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (1,2,3)

Chinese investors are usually not allowed to invest outside of china so the stocks usually trade "at a premium" and that premium is rather volatile. The Shanghai Composite Index (1) today dropped by ca. 6.74%. The HSCEI dropped by ca. 1.36% and is not "down nearly -30% in a month". The 2009 intra-day high for the HSCEI was at ca. 12508.21 on August 4. It closed today at ca. 11278.26, about 9.83% below that high.

The point here is that volatility is back and the fact that we have diverging indexes points to confusion and lack of conviction either.
