Looks like the West slope of the Sierras below Truckee (Blue Canyon?). If you notice the thin line of clouds in the distance, you can see a dark line below, which is the Coastal Range beyond Cali's central valley. Very nice shot Deej. +1 rec

my guess is the catskills or adirondacks. Both of which are far more likely since he lives in NY.
