Spam Buster 5000

June 04, 2009 – Comments (4)

While I do not have the ability to delete all of the annoying prescription drug ads and such that keep popping up on the front page of the blogs section, I do have the ability to push them down the list and into obscurity.  As such, I am going to make a series of posts containing what I believe are the most interesting business stories of the day.

It may annoy you to see a million Deej posts on the list, but at least they are business related and not spam :)  Please feel free to rec this post if you appreciate my effort.

Why doesn't TMF do some sort of flood control?  There's really not much of a legitimate reason to make more than 3 posts in one hour, so it seems like some of the spam could be filtered that way.

I don't like spam either but pushing them pushes legitimate blogs...please don'tt clog this up even more.  Sure TMF could just delete spam or is there no editor?

I agree, Mark, that adding several blog posts isn't an ideal solution but really the only messages that I pushed off of the front page were trying to sell Valium or something like that.  You're right that there needs to be a better way to address this sort of situation when it arises.

You may not like what I have to say, but at least my posts were investment related :).

Deej, last night someone posted 2 spam blogs, I clicked on the report link & they & the user were removed within minutes. Also got a thank you email & request that we continue to report it to MF.
