Special Situations/Other on my Watchlist
Here are a few I've added to my watchlist:
1. Energy Transfer Equity
If the motley fool had a reputation for doing something badly, it would be those formulaic articles that don't give any real insight onto the reality of business. However, there are plenty of articles that motley fool critics don't realize are out there(more recently they represent the majority of articles), that offer true valuable analysis. Consider this, http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2012/09/26/get-behind-this-1-ceo.aspx, one of them. Looks like a special situation worth my time.
2. Elan(NYSE:ELN) is spinning off its subsidiary, Neotope. Now, I really have no idea what the business looks like or anything, I just see that upon announcing, Elan stock went up. Since then it has fallen. Also, Neotope is a cash burner with a phase 1 trial drug. What might Elan look like alone?
3. Dynegy, again I haven't looked into the situation so I have no idea what I'm talking about, but it's exiting bankruptcy and creditors are getting the stock. Likely they'll want to sell quickly. Potential value play. Moreover, distressed utilities are a kind of special situation....Peter Lynch(see Beat the Street) spends a while talking about them. Might be worth checking out.
4. Invensense...business looks cool
6. Cigna--Einhorn and others have jumped in. I'm eager to find out why.
