Stay on target... Stay on target (August)

Well, one month of blogging and four weeks of picks are in the books. I figured I should kick out a monthly summary in case someone doesn’t want to read my weekly posts but is otherwise curious as to what’s going on.
This is what I bought (the commission is factored into the price per share):
08/05/2011 – Dominion Resources @ $48.15 / share
08/11/2011 – Aflac @ $36.17 / share
08/18/2011 – Flowers Foods @ $19.00 / share
08/29/2011 – Costco @ $79.85 / share
The highlights from this month are:
There have been some impressive CAPS members who have posted comments. KommanderKhaos has introduced me to Alstry who is blogging furiously from deep within his Y2K bunker. TMFBabo’s post really gave me a lot of confidence for carrying out this project. chk999 suggested a great reading list:
The Intelligent Investor - Ben Graham
One Up On Wall Street - Peter Lynch
Common Stocks, Uncommon Profits - Phil Fisher
Reminiscenses Of A Stock Operator - Edwin Lefevre
The books have arrived from Amazon and I’m reading “Common Stocks” now.
Other members have offered suggestions such as dollarvaluemenu’s idea of the “Jabba the Hutt investment Strategy” and mm5525’s warning that financial/insurer companies are the Mos Eisley Spaceport of Wall Street. Possibly the biggest surprise was something I wrote ended up here.
And last, but not least, it seems this month I’ve found a cure for my phobia of shopping at Costco.
