Staying with Solaris

July 27, 2010 – Comments (3)

...literally. Inspired by this dialogue, Solaris (SolarisKing) and I found each other in real life, and I'm staying with him and have been trying my hand at doing what he does. It's a lot of fun, and I'm learning a lot. I look forward to meeting other people from that thread, though only David K. is on my planned route, as far as I know.

Let me know if you want to meet me, and I can post my email address and we can work it out.

Have a great visit with Solaris. I wish I could be there. What crops are in? I have wild plums ripening in my yard right now.

We just harvested the garlic, and we're harvesting lettuce and other greens just about every day, as well as turnips, beets, radishes, and carrots. I don't work in the fruit tree orchards much, but from what I hear, they were devastated by hail this year. There are tomatoes about to come in in a week or two.

Congratulations on your wild plums!

Sounds wonderful!

I've had no success with lettuce. Clay soil and early hot weather are not a good mix. Also my root vegetable planted in past years were not that great. Tomatoes and cucumbers grow like weeds here, however.

The plums were planted for a privacy screen. I had no idea they would be so abundant. Plants come with exciting surprises.

Have a good evening!
