Stock Market: Sink or Soar?

June 27, 2012 – Comments (3) | RELATED TICKERS: VTI , ECON

Scary times.  It could do either.  I'm fully invested on the theory that if it sinks it will eventually bounce back and more but if it soars it's never going to come back down to this level.  At least that's what history says, and I'm not one to say, "It's different this time."

Well from a "value" point of view you would think the market is just flat out cheap.  The problem is the computers now control and hence you will have volatility, something investors generally don't like. I tend to invest in mlps, bdcs and mreits mainly for the yield and tax treatment.  I do speculate as well because nothing ventured nothing gained, but I am more yield centric and Tbills just don't cut it.

Valyooo, the situation seems more unstable than average times.  Awallejr- computers are focused on day-trading.  I believe that if we invest based on an intermediate buy-and-hold approach (buying stocks that we believe will do outperform over a 2-4 year time period), then we are playing a different game than the computers, one without so much competition.
