Surf the Tsunami

News of a GM-Chrysler merger has chilled automotive workers throughout the country. Such a partnership would result in the closing of seven of Chrysler's 14 U.S. factories and ... As many as 200,000 jobs could be cut ...

Now the Job Cuts Really begin......

Plus dealers will be shut down, suppliers, ad agency support, truckers, and many support services.....not mention the income and social security taxes paid by those workers.

As I have stated we are well on our way to 15% umemployment and probably capping out at between 30-50% before its over.

Quite frankly, it is surprising that things have stayed so strong for so long.......but it clearly appears the cracks are starting to give.

By January...there will be very little commercial construction and residential construction in progress, the auto business will be a fraction of its former size, banks and financial service companies will have reduced staffs even further as the wave approaches shore.

My suggestion:  Grab a board and surf the tsunami.....but traditional thinking will cause you to wipe out.  Think not what was....but what will be..... now how...but what........

What was will not be....but what isn't may be....and maybe you could surf your way to the ride of your life.

Unfortunately I think the government thinks they can borrow, lend and spend their way out of the current crisis. It is amazing how no one is asking how in the world we are going to pay for all these stimulus and bailout programs aimed at delaying the inevitable, specially with a lower tax base across the board. You look at how politicians speak and they think resources are infinite.

Yeah Michigan should give the upper penisula or UP to Canada to save money. This is gonna be bad all around. Yep major consolidation with no job retraining and customer service/ factory jobs overseas. Great for America!

As much as I'd like to take your suggestion, I'm afraid you're not quite specific enough.  Some ticker symbols would be good to help me know what you're looking at.
