Surprised by AMED's 16% drop today...?

September 28, 2010 – Comments (8) | RELATED TICKERS: AMED , D , ROP

I guess I'm not.

Remember UltraLong's post Help, I've fallen and I can't get up from July 22nd?

This is what I said in comment# 6 on that post:

In my opinion (which is just that: An opinion - not based on any scientific data), AMED will have a big one-day drop (18 - 30%) between now and the end of the next quarter.

Very possible that the samet thing will happen to AFAM.

Way too risky for my taste...

I do realize today's 16% drop wasn't as bad as what I was expecting, but imagine what would happen to AMED if we had a negative 100 points day on the DOW today. I'm sure they would easily be down more than 18%.

I also do realize AMED is still slightly higher than UL's bottom-call price, but I'm sure today's drop was hard to swallow even for the people who got in at UL's $22 price.

Here is AMED's chart showing what happened with this stock since July 22, 2010:

I keep telling UL to stay away from these garbage stocks, but he just won't listen...

well yes it is always nice when you are correct and UL is wrong. I was tempted to point out what COG has done since he recd it to me (from $44 to $28)...

As for AFAM I would disagree (naturally, I am a shareholder who bought $4 ago and doesn't want to see it go back). Essentially the reason it was so low is a lawsuit with more holes in it than a Green Bay Cheesehead and because of the industry investigation. From what I understand AFAM was much better than most of it's competitors in terms of honest pricing so it is very possible that if industry wide fines are imposed they could actually benefit the company.

SockMarket, I don't think UL was wrong. I just think I was right (kind of)... :)

Wow DragonLZ, you knew about the DOJ investigation for overbilling that crushed this pumpkin yesterday way back in July!  You should have turned them in and gotten the whistle blower reward....ohhh, maybe you did!!!!

It's in July when UL had his post, but I knew it already in June...

Same as with WNC. I bought it in RL at $1.13 in August of 2009, you and everybody else heard about the trailers sale to SWIFT in March of 2010... :)

Or with KEI that is up 72% today (being bought out).

My "system" told me about it back in 2009, but I didn't listen (as KEI is a thinly traded stock).

Moron, that's what I am... (but taking notes...taking notes...)

I know UL. That was a great call.

Btw., It looks like Olympus is finally coming back to life.

Good Luck.
