ummmmm....wow. Seeing as the budget is currently more than 90% other costs, and given war, general excessive spending (pork bellies, etc.), borrowing, etc. focusing on healthcare costs as a primary cause of our decline is right up there with debt is kind of like saying you think unemployment will hit 30% and Obama was born in Kenya. Its not impossible its just VERY unlikely.

Before someone bites my head off for this I should point out that I am not in love with the healthcare plan, I am simply saying that it is a political bias to include this in a list of the major issues and has little economic basis.

LOL, Did you think that the video was about healthcare?

Watch it again.

It was more about the other 90%. Check out their website and you'll see what I mean.

SockMarket, so you are saying that you protest the fact that they mentioned healthcare in the same sentence?

You did mention that you aren't a fan of the current healthcare bill but you seem to want to make it a focus in this post.

I suggest that you reread your own post.

focusing on healthcare costs as a primary cause of our decline is right up there with debt is kind of like saying you think unemployment will hit 30% and Obama was born in Kenya.

The only person trying to covince people that the commercial is saying healthcare is the primary cause of our decline is you, and if the bill actually addressed reducing healthcare costs instead of just passing them off forcibly to a younger generation, it probably wouldn't have even been mentioned in the commercial.

As far as whether or not employment can hit 30%, are you saying that it's impossible? If you are, could you show me your crystal ball?

As far as Obama, I don't care where the man was born although I'm dissappointed that the people that awarded him the Nobel peace prize before he ever did anything didn't look into that.

I think I have seen a similar video, though I can't recall where and am too lazy to go looking for it.  But, its still sadly a truth we have to deal with or this commercial may one day come true...

Right on Chris.  Healthcare directly impacts employment, as many jobs are being lost due to the cost of it.  I heard today that Fidelity is leaving Taxachusettes (Marlboro - a major facility and employer in MA).  Folks  - we need to stop the political posturing and deal with the issues.  Great commercial!  Healthcare was not the primary issue in it.

chris,

I don't know what you have against actually reading what I write before you respond to it, but it would be nice if you did

Changing a person's meaning to argue with "their" points is ridiculous and rather nasty, IMO. It is a debate style used by people who can't win by actually talking about what their opponent is saying.

To make things easy for you I am going to give you a list of my opinions, which hopefully you can quote and read correctly:

1) I think the video listed healthcare as a primary cause of America's decline. It came along with a handful of other contributing factors.

2) I believe healthcare's problems pale in comparison to the other contributing factors because the cost that it is likely to create is much smaller than the other factors

3) because of 2 I don't believe that it should have been mentioned as a major problem, especially when things like wars, etc. cost much more.

4) so I believe that, because of 1-3, it was probably in the video because of political bias.

5) I think that it does have the possability to be a major problem but it is unlikely. Just as unlikely as unemployment (the official measure) hitting 30% or Obama having actually been born in Kenya. Both of these examples are possible, but unlikely IMO.

6) I do not think the video was about healthcare, it was not. I just don't think it should have made the video at all.

7) This does not mean that I am in favor of the healthcare bill, simply that I do not view it as a major problem.

And here we come full circle again!

Your statements #1 and #6 seem very conflicting.

Seems like you are really trying to make a point about something that you don't necessarily support anyway.

I just don't think it should have made the video at all.

Just imagine that they said Republicans instead of healthcare.

I don't think Michael Moore should have ever come out with any videos either, and that's not because I'm against the NRA.

Chris,

Wow, I thought CAPS was safe from trolls. At least this is what I am guessing you are doing...either that or you are one lucky SOB whose rating is higher than his IQ.

BTW my comments were 2 and 4 not 1, 6 and I was, and have always been referring to one specific part/aspect of the video.

Wow! troll my thread and then call me the troll.

That's a new one!

In post #10, you numbered your comments from #1 to #7

Read #'s 1 and 6 and see if you don't think they are conflicting.

Post your own thread where you state "I hate this commercial because it's about healthcare, but it's really not about healthcare, they shouldn't have made it though because it's about healthcare"

When I post that you're an idiot, in your thread, then you can call me a troll.

When I have to sit here and play games in my thread while you decide whether it was or wasn't about healthcare, but you are against the current bill, but they shouldn't have made the video because it was about healthcare, you're the troll.

Go to someone else's thread and make it about healthcare which you don't support, but it's important enough to make you turn it into enough of an issue to hijack someone else's thread and let my thread stay on topic.

If I had any idea the circular logic I would have to go through, I would have just ignored you in post #2 and left you thinking that you actually said something that made sense.

I never said the video focused on healthcare. I said healthcare should not have been in the video.
