Galaxy Tab registers a sale of 1 million units
Samsung's Galaxy Tab:
Galaxy Tab has registered a sale of more than 1 million units in just two months after the company decided to put it on sale and one month after major U.S. carriers decided to sell the product. Samsung tasted similar success when it launched Galaxy S that reached in the figure of 1 million units in less a week after it was launched in August.
Galaxy Tab is considered as a good competition to Apple iPad that reached the figure of 1 million units in less than one month after going on sale on April. Even though Galaxy Tab took a longer time to reach the 1 million mark it is considered as a good competition to the Apple iPad. Apple has sold more than 8 million units of iPad, a number which is likely to increase in near future as the company expects good sales during Christmas holidays.
Even though region wise breakup of sales figure is not available most analysts believe that Thanksgiving holiday sales had a huge impact on improving the sales of Galaxy Tab. Even though all major carriers where happy with Galaxy Tab sales numbers they did not come out with specific sales figure.
One of the biggest beneficiaries of rising Galaxy Tab sales is Google Android. Both Galaxy Tab and Galaxy S use Android mobile OS which is considered to be a major competition to Windows mobile OS.
Americans who want to buy Galaxy Tab have to pay $599 but they get a discount of $200 if they enter into a two-year service contract with their carrier.
