Thank you for your new world order. As Cramer says for the corporations and by the corporations;            Russia Courts Asian Allies as EU Considers Sanctions (Update1)

By Lyubov Pronina and Dune Lawrence

Aug. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Russia proposed expanding a security alliance with China and four former Soviet republics to counter NATO as the European Union considered sanctions on Russia for its recognition of two separatist Georgian regions.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has become an ``authoritative organization that commands respect.'' The group will consider adding new members, he said today at a summit in the Tajik capital Dushanbe.

``Expanding the group would realize Russia's goal of turning the SCO into an anti-American, anti-NATO counterweight,'' said Yevgeny Volk, an analyst in Moscow for the Washington-based Heritage Foundation research group. ``It comes as a result of Western criticism of Russia for its military action in Georgia and for recognizing'' Abkhazia and South Ossetia.                                                                                                                                             Our chart shows that real interest rates are already more negative than they were during the Great Stagflation of the 1970s. Now its time to play chicken.....let the trade wars begin!!!!!

Also Thursday, Putin announced economic measures that he said were unrelated to the fighting with Georgia. Nineteen U.S. poultry meat companies would be banned from exporting their products to Russia because they had failed health and safety tests, and 29 other companies had been warned to improve their standards or face the same ban, Putin said.

Putin said Russia's health and agricultural ministries had randomly tested the poultry products and found them to be full of antibiotics and arsenic.

Putin repeated that the bans were not related to the Georgian conflict, but they indicate the measures that some Western countries -- particularly in Europe -- fear if Russia goes on a diplomatic offensive.

Bottom line is Russia loses in the long run if they want to play the "economic" game.  They could try to hold countries "hostage" with natural resources, but that winds up biting them in the ass since Russia has nothing else to sell.  Tit for tat they ultimately lose if the rest of the world hangs tough.

Iquadland10  dude, you underestimate russia's historical fear/hatred of china. and vice-versa with the chinese. if russia is reverting to the "strong man" goverment out of a sense of nostolgia for the good old days (as opposed to the unpleasant upheaval of the last 15 years), don't old phobias come with it? i don't generally call entire countries racist, so let's just say "xenophobic". russia and china don't unite, they un-tie. imagine russia's response if somebody suggested that the germans would make good peacekeepers in georgia. das Deutch are competent, motivated, and There. NOT GONNA HAPPEN.lots of baaaad memories! and everbody knows it so no one will suggest it; ditto a pairing of the dragon and the bear. consider china's point of view: all they want is CONTROL. the Olympics pointed out how they feel about strangers in their midst (the "x" word again). the west will let them have their way while partnering for mass consumption to stave off revolution, unlike  russia did.  no, i'm of the opinion that both of them will make deals with 3rd parties for what they want(iran). how will russia react if china follows their example and goes all military into a border dispute in a territory that they have in common? the big red one feels the west is pushing in europe and they can't have that; if somebody pushes in the east (which may happen), they will not like it at all. treaty? cooperation? you mean like in the 50s? not in my opinion...

i wonder what russiangambit thinks...

and i think the garden is an excellent idea!!
