Less than a month into the fiscal year and Sacramento County officials are already saying there's a near $38 million budget shortfall that could get even worse.

In addition to the $9.8 million in projected welfare costs the county chose not to fund in June, sales tax,property tax and other revenue projections made just months ago are already proving to be overly optimistic. Then there's the matter of the $10 million the supervisors have said they want to restore to the Sheriff's Department.

All of that means the county -- which laid off 243 employees and eliminated numerous contracts earlier this month in order to pass a "balanced" $2 billion general fund spending plan -- could be making more big cuts in a couple months.

This story will likely be repeated by city after city, county after county, parish after parish, and state after state.

The money is running out as the Zombulator causes all to bleed.

I dont think so. I havent seen any come back in the economy as of yet some companys are starting to produce again from falling inventorys but that will be quick and then back to block 1 1 step forward an 2 back but the 2 back next time will hit hard..

July 28 (Bloomberg) -- Station Casinos Inc., taken private by Colony Capital LLC and management in 2007, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after failing to reach agreement with unsecured creditors on a plan for a prepackaged court restructuring.

Today’s filing, coming after months of talks, allows Station to enlist the court’s assistance in reaching an agreement with unsecured creditors on restructuring $5.7 billion of its debt, Chief Accounting Officer Tom Friel said in an interview. Since February, the company had been operating under debt forbearance while negotiated with banks and noteholders. 

  In February the company offered 10 cents to 50 cents on the dollar in secured notes and cash to holders of about $2.3 billion of bonds. The company said at the time that some secured lenders backed the plan.

 

SHOCKING!!!!  Who would not accept 10 cents on the dollar?

I was watching the history chanel and they started talking about how the gov. now can collect the blood and DNA  or 2008 and beyound for health reasons. With out our consent. Sorry about off topic but the bill and now universal heal care. Is a name for this called ungenitics? Oh and money for medical tracking in the new health bill. Talk me down Alstray.

Soon you will be a criminal for not having government health care. Worse the government will have direct access (electronic link) to all of your bank accounts and can take the health care premiums plus any penalties from your accounts without warning at any time.

 

This will be worse than the IRS.
