Didn't somebody name a type of dung beetle after Bush and Cheney a few years ago?  I thought that one was good, too.

Tasty, I did not see it.

On a more serious note, Big Picture has a post about PIGS, Portugal, Italy, Greece & Spain.

I was in Italy and Spain in 2005.  I know that Italy was totally crippled by housing costs.  You get a 350 sq ft studio condo with 1930 style plumbing for the same price there that you could get a new 1000 sq ft condo in Toronto at the peak of their housing bubble.  I didn't follow what was driving their problems at all.

Spain on the other hand has become the British retirement capital.  It is only about an hour or two flight.  There are entire British communities everywhere.  What that has done in Spain is driven housing costs out of the reach of the working people that were there first.  Young people have foolishly chased the home owner ship dream and are now in serious trouble.

Housing costs in Spain are still affordable for anyone selling out of Britain and moving to Spain, although their bubble has collapsed and prices are coming down.

But, looking at his my thoughts were, "how many local people end up with their future destroyed or seriously compromised because of wealthy immigration?"  It is the same $hit that happened here in Vancouver.  We had the run up from 86 to 93 and since then we've seen a totally division of wealth and the working poor depending on food banks.

What a cry, wealth actually coming into a country and people complaining.

Why is that ???

FRom what i'm told Spain is a much nicer and better climate country than England, so if your older and you saved your money, why should you not be allowed to move where its nicer and cheaper ???

Maybe the SPainards can migrate to England, just because your kin was their first shouldnt grant you everything...

IF i was in England I would probably retire somewhere nicer myself, the climate isnt so nice from what i'm told...

I don't think this is fitting at all.  Sewage treatment plants take $hit and waste water and through the miracle of microorganisms and chemicals have an end product of clean water.

To truly be fitting, Bush's name should be attached to something that does the exact opposite - taking something and, through the bumbling of arrogant stupidity, turning it into $hit.

2 out of 5 Americans can't even locate Canada on a map, nevermind naming anyone of "importance" there. And I'm being quite generous with the numbers mind you.

Go ahead and bash BUSHY, but whats worse is the other parties could not come up with any candidate worthy and/or capable of beating him and their next candidate is even worse than the previous 2.

Not that its going to make much of a difference.

Dwot I think its wrong that a Canadian or any other nationality would so dishonor an United States president as to suggest that a sewage plant should be renamed.

even in jest.....

If the democrats had a candidate who had a platform consisting of more than "vote for me, I'm not G.W. Bush," they might have won the last election.  That alone was apparently good enough for 48% of the vote.

That's hillarious.....you all are arguing like the citizens of this country actually elected Bush.  Wise up.....elections are a bone thrown to you to make you think you actually have a choice.  Your vote isn't worth the paper it is printed on.  Presidents are puppets, and they are appointed...not elected.  Same goes for Canada and every other influential region of the world.

Free-masons appoint puppets...not you!!

Um, carcassgrinder, our votes are not printed on paper.  That's something we've been trying to change for years now.  But the Fed does not see fit to have any paper trail to guard against voter fraud.
