The Ikkyu2 Challenges

December 21, 2011 – Comments (6) | RELATED TICKERS: GLW , GHM , HPQ

Last month I challenged my readers to take the ikkyu2 challenge and analyze one stock's fundamentals in their CAPS blog.  I tried to keep track, but I am only aware of 3 users who specifically stated they were taking the challenge:

 * Myself, here , with GLW.

 * rd80, here, with GHM.  I already own a sizable GHM stake, by the way.  Russ hit all the high points, in my opinion, in his excellent post.

 *  dumberthanafool, here, with HPQ.  I am solidly bearish on HPQ myself because I think its top management and strategy is fatally flawed dating back to Carly Fiorina, but DTAF made a nice case for a turnaround.

If anyone else took my challenge, I would like to know about it!

In other news, I succeeded in my own challenge to enter the 99th percentile and get the shiniest CAP available to non-Top-Fools.  I am 99.03 as of this writing, ended yesterday at 99.01.

Fool on!

That's a goodie, shamapant.  Thanks.

It's a pitch about Genzyme Contingent Value Rights, a sort of warrant that has value if Lemtrada hits certain sales targets.  More risky than the kind of thing I usually buy, but I appreciate learning about it.

No Problem, and of course credit TMFRoyal and TMFCandyMountain from whom I got the idea for the article, all I had was a bit better timing and more information to work with.

Sorry, must have missed the post or I would have responded.  Personally I am a big fan of SDRL.  I have been buying their shares and selling puts.  The company basically leases out  very modern deep sea rigs.  They are not really in the GOM which makes them Obama proof.  The company pretty much builds em and monetizes them asap.  They also pay a very respectable dividend, currently at .76 last quarter.

Oh I also love SNDXF, being built on the same model as SLW.  I simply love the business model, basically legalized "mafia", lend the money and get the large payoffs over time.
