The Juiciest Potential Gold Acquisitions

I had a great time pondering some of the more logical link-ups between producing miners with a constant need to replace reserves and the junior explorers or developers that look like enticing targets.

As I mention in the article, predicting specific deals would be idle speculation, but discussing potential targets and why they may look atttractive is a very valuable exercise ... whether you're looking to understand the entire industry better or interested in locating a precious junior.

Happy prospecting!

Sinch, great article! Thanks.

I noticed there are a couple of companies mentioned (ABX and SA) that you've been bullish on in the past, but no so much now, at least according to your profile picks.  I was wondering if you could share why they fell out of favor with you.

And as long as I'm already being nosy, is there something about NXG you don't like now, or are you looking for a better entry point?

I'm glad you brough that up. In real life, I trimmed a few positions near $980 gold in anticipation of one last correction before the next surge to take out $1,000 for good. My closed CAPS positions on the two smaller equities you mentioned reflect nothing more than that they had enjoyed quite a run compared to some of their peers, making for a great opprtunity to log some points (and real-life profits) and await better entry points.

While I might have tossed ABX into the CAPS mix for a temporary play off those October / November lows, I've never been bullish on that particular miner. Their shares may very well go up quite a bit with gold's ascent, but they'll do so without me! [Massive hedging plus mysterious insider selling = no thank you!] :)

Cool, thanks for your reply - makes sense.

Looks like it was a precient move with NXG, given the decline over the last five days, esp. today.  Big volume today too, wonder what's going on....
