The Naked Short Conspiracy Challenge

March 14, 2007 – Comments (2)

In order to provide some relief to the beleaguered, anti NSS crowd that inhabits certain portions of this site, I have offered to answer the list of Patrick Byrne Troll questions that he posed a while back -- hoping to deflect my criticism from his God-awful performance as a CEO.

I will answer Patrick's troll list on the condition that one of his faithful simply finish the day ahead of me in the caps standings. It's that simple.

If I can convince one of these guys to put me on their payroll, can I come in as an Anti-NSS ringer?

You seem to have gotten yourself invested in characterizing the Naked Short Selling issue as a whacko conspiracy theory because of the unfair attacks on your integrity by Byrne last year.

My sense is you may be right about Byrne and wrong about NSS - and that your thinking about the second is blinded by not segregating the two issues.

Doesn't the volume on LEND today puzzle you?  74M shares traded - total shares outstanding 25M - float 21M.  Average volume as the stock went down over the last two weeks about 10M per day - 40% of total, almost 50% of float - each day.  I don't know this stock well, but if there is an explanation I have missed, there are dozens of other tickers exhibiting similar strange events.
