Are things distressed out there? Let's take a look:
Housing (20% of economy).............Really Sucks
Autos....(4-5%)..............................Sucks........Really Sucks if you are a dealer
Retail............................................Starting to Suck
Restaurants (rapidly rising costs).....Sucks
Banking/Finance............................Sucks
Technology....................................Could be Starting to Suck
Government...................................Signs of Real Sucking
Manufacturing................................Sucks domesticly.....Good if export
Agriculture.....................................Kicking the backside of a donkey
Military/defense/security.................Booming if you are a supplier but sucks if you are end user
Transportation................................Sucks ans slowing
That's enough for now. The consumer is 2/3 of the economy. Consumer confidence is at recent record lows. If it sucks for the consumer, you can feel pretty safe that it pretty much sucks. Now government is starting to feel the pinch?
