Thoughts?

I know it's coming, so I need to point out that Silvercrest was not a permissible choice because of its thin trading volume and small market cap. Otherwise, it definitely would have made the grade.

outoffocus,

I admit to having paid relatively little attention to the 2 ps within my precious metals coverage, and following recent indications of automotive recovery out of Alcoa and others, and given Platinum's trailing underperformance, I can see why you might be developing an interest.

There's a physical platinum ETF (PPLT).

Major players on the mining side include Anglo Platinum (AGPPF) and Impala Platinum Holdings (IMPUF). Impala's chart looks enticing, and makes want to have a closer look. Junior developer Platinum Group Metals (PLG) is building a nice looking mine in South Africa with initial production expected in 2013.

I'll try to take a fresh look at the Platinum landscape in the near future and write something up.

Hi Sky Pilot,

I did read those releases and I was very happy. But they were news on 1/11 and the price gains happened two days later. I was just wondering if I had missed something else and apperently I didn't.

You may not have looked at your blog for Yukon but I was doing some searches and found them and then found your blog. After reading through all of your posts I thought it was worth owning now that it looks like they will turn the corner. It looks as though the key is for them to provide their own ore and not rely on someone elses low grade ore to feed their roaster. I took the plunge 1/10/12 at .256/share. Crossing my fingers.

And a big thank you for all of your hard work.

A recent court ruling has allowed us to proceed with our exploration program on most of the LH claims. Only a very small portion, approximately 10% of the area that is part of the current operational mine has been kept off limit by courts. Even this area includes claims that we own.

We are working on an exploration and drilling program and will start drilling at this property by the end of January. We are certainly very excited by this opportunity and believe that this will drive pleanty of value for our shareholders.

1/11/12

Morning Coffee (1/12/12) "PC Gold Inc. reported that its 2011 fall drill program has identified a new high-grade vein at shallow depths in the Shaft 3 area at its Pickle Crow project; highlight intersections from this newly discovered No. 22 vein include 444.38 g/t gold over 1.5m from 22.65 to 24.15m, including 1,325.73 g/t gold over 0.5m. . .the company owns 100% of Pickle Crow, one of Canada's best-known past-producing gold mines, located in north western Ontario in a belt of rocks well known for its rich gold deposits."

http://www.theaureport.com/pub/co/714

The Gold Report Interview with Ian Gordon (10/10/11) "I love PC Gold Inc., which I own. The company is in Pickle Lake, Ontario. I sort of trust Canadian mining, not because I'm a Canadian, but just because I feel it has been our heritage for so long. The Canadian government is always going to be a party to it. PC Gold has a very, very rich underground mine at Pickle Lake, and it has outlined about 1.2 million ounces (Moz.). PC Gold has also discovered a surface zone. It's going to be a lower grade, but this gold in the ground has got be to worth something.

PC Gold hit $1.80 in April 2010, and I think it's trading at around $0.47 right now. The other thing about PC Gold is that it has about $7.5 million in cash in the bank. So, even if we are in a major credit crunch, and I suspect we are, PC Gold has money to outlive a credit crunch and then get back on track and eventually be able to put its mine back into production. . .Right. We're very keen on it, and we own a lot of shares, all of which I bought in the market. I'm very happy to own this company."

Hello,

Any comments on PAAS taking over Minefinders? I was already interested in PAAS and right after the takeover was announced, shares of PAAS took almost a 10% dive and then I pulled the trigger, seeing it as a buying opportunity. The combined company will be an awesome silver producer, yes?

I also own both shares of EXK (endeavor silver) and GPL (great panther silver). I have heard the latter may be taken over by the former. Actually, I want both companies in their own right, but I much prefer for former because EXK holds hard assets (keeping back some from sale for the last 2 quarters) which I think is a brilliant and underappreciated move, and they are reputed to have one of the best management teams in the business. But, if I believed the takeover rumors to be true, I suppose you would recommend I shift some of my investing dollars from EXK to GPL (or from another source to GPL) to benefit from the eventual takeover? Or do you think holding one or the other does not matter in the long run if they will be one company, assuming I believe it?

Personally, I feel people spend too much time chasing after takeover candidates and not enough time figuring out what they want to own. I had already decided PAAS was a good company I wanted to own, so their purchase of Minefinders and the resulting drop in share price of PAAS over the next two days does not bother me - yet. If anyone thinks I need a wake up call, please let me know!
