The tsar is good, the boyars are bad
Medieval Russian peasants thought that the good tsar is surrounded by bad advisors, so they would send delegates to Moscow to tell the tsar about their economic hardship. If only the tsar would learn that peasants are being robbed and exploited by the landlords, the thinking went, he would surely offer some help. The number of petitions to the tsar written over the centuries must surely run in the thousands, in spite of zero evidence that a single petition ever attained its intended result. How very stupid.
Well, now history repeats itself in a country that one would suspect least. It appears that American renters are no smarter than Russian peasants. So they they set up a site, www.angryrenter.com, and proceeded to write a chelobitnaya (petition) to the Congress. With a minimum promotion mostly limited to word-of-mouth, they quickly found 4000 renter souls who subscribed to the belief that members of the Congress would protect them against the modern landlords if only they knew how unfairly renters are being treated. Take a look at the site to have a good laugh at the stupidity of the 21-century American peasants or, if you wish, to join them in signing the chelobitnaya.
