The Wax Ink Forever Portfolio - October 2009

October 12, 2009 – Comments (5) | RELATED TICKERS: MOS , PBI , HP

I was asked several weeks ago by an on-line friend, what stocks I would keep forever. Actually I had never thought about it, since 5 to 7 years is pretty much my limit for holding a stock.

But the question so intrigued me that I went back and reconstructed some purchases with the thought in mind; what if I never sold?

Enter the Wax Ink Forever Portfolio.

The plan is pretty straightforward. Once a month, I am going to add one stock to this portfolio based on the idea that I can never sell it. It should be interesting.

and beyond.

If forever means "until 2030 or so" your portfolio might do alright.

The problem with some of your picks such as Kodak or Xerox is that, as they show, if you do not keep up with technology you can rapidly fall to the wayside.

I think a 'forever' portfolio would include companies such as J&J, Colgate, Philip Morris, etc.
