Tim Harford of FT gives his prediction that the euro will "end in tears," because the creators of the eurozone added no buffer for failure.

Tim Harford is awesome. I think his book The Undercover Economist is required reading.

Regarding bond spreads among the PIIGS: 

"ECB president Jean-Claude Trichet can scream 'no defaults' all he wants but the bond market simply will not go along...These numbers likely have Trichet and EU officials ***ting bricks. What are they going to do, up the size of the bailout fund to infinity?"
