On March 20, 2010 I wrote this post on the "Lehman vacuum".

a chart from that post displaying the S&P 500 index in EUR.

 

 

update.

The S&P 500 index in EUR is currently at around 1124.41/1.235 ≈ 910.45.

So I guess we are close to the middle of zone #5 ...

The "S&P 500" generally quoted is a price return index; there are also "total return" and "net total return" versions of the index. These versions differ in how dividends are accounted for. The price return version does not account for dividends; it only captures the changes in the prices of the index components. The total return version reflects the effects of dividend reinvestment. Finally, the net total return version reflects the effects of dividend reinvestment after the deduction of withholding tax.

The "generally quoted" DAX is a total return index, so the comparison is not really "fair" ...

Hmm Technical analysis in an alternative currency, does it really work? I would think it requires the majorportion of inflows to be coming from that currency? But I uspect majority fo Sp500 investment is done by US domestic funds and investors.
