Greeting from the land of fruits and nuts Comrade Al!

A couple things on learning in the cloud . . .

1) Those that are not self-starters will not do well (and given our current state, that's probably most people in the U.S.). How do you send someone to the principal's office on-line? In addition, when teens are on-line, they are really-really on-line with lots of distractions or then schooling.

2) As one who has been through the "credit for previous education" experience, there is no face-to-face (aka HUMAN) pleading of your case. You submit your transcript(s) and the programmed formula decides what you get credit for and what worthless classes you must take again.

3) Test taking and paper submissions get similar results. Big brother is watching you via web-cam, but there's no pausing of tests to blow your nose, to drink some water, or to pee. Papers are run against formulas with no interaction/explanation. A reject paper comes back, "Student did not meet the minimum requirements of secion 4.2a." Er, um, in what way?

Education in the cloud is coming, but like Obamacare, it's no panacea.
