What do YOU Want to See from Brigus Gold?

June 08, 2012 – Comments (13) | RELATED TICKERS: BRD.DL

I'll be heading back to the Black Fox mine very shortly for another visit. When I visited last summer, the rapid pace of underground development coupled with exciting new discoveries at Contact and 147 led me to anticipate a major turnaround in the making. As we now know all too well, that turnaround was to encounter some substantial hiccups along the way, and in the midst of severe weakness across the sector the market has punished Brigus for the delay.

But for those who have stuck around and observed the more recent indications of substantial progress in the underground operation, as well as the progressing development of those new resource areas, this battered stock has begun to look promising once again. I am eager to meet the new mine manager and discuss the recent changes to the underground operation, and to gauge their progress on the opening of additional production stopes. I am also eager to speak with VP for Exploration Howard Bird about the potential for further upside at Contact and 147, and to glean detailas on the plan for progressing these areas into fast-tracked production.

I know what I'll be looking for, and the questions I'll be looking to have answered, but I wanted to give you all a chance to let me know what it is you would like me to find out for you. If you have specific questions you would like answered, please pass them along, and I will do my best to get answers for you.

Reminder about Pilot Gold:

You'll recall I was buying shares aggressively late last year at several levels under $1.25.

I then locked in a bunch of profit over $1.70 and $1.80 in March. Now that it's careened all the way back to below $1, I've loaded up anew. We'll see how the latest round works out, but I'm feeling quite confident buying at these levels. It has nearly worked its way back into my top 10.

I would like to hear how or if the shutdown that occured is going to effect the next earnings report.

The company sold some notes and said it intended to use those funds to "buy back" 1/2 the gold stream.  Did this happen?

Separately, Fools, I wanted to let you know that I've been adding shares of Spanish Mountain Gold ever since they announced Jim Rogers joined the Board. I had heard some chatter prior to that, but hadn't been very familiar with the project. Now that I've done my DD, I feel great about the project, and Rogers' involvement really reinforces that outlook, as he has been very vocal in the past about his perference for bullion ofer miners. For him to get involved, I surmise, he must have been very fully convinced by the value proposition.

Good call on Pilot, they have a lot of cash. Do you like Magellan as well?

My only questions would be on the gold stream with Sandstorm - wondering how they are going to finance it without dilution (I would think issuing shares is not at all on the table). Perhaps an extension with Sandstorm that gives them more time?

I know they are waiting until BF hits steady state production of 100K, but if you can ask what they are thinking about potential production at Goldfields, if they will pursue a partner, etc. that would be interesting. The Goldfields project alone is worth the current market cap IMO. (The NPV at 1600 gold was something like 330 million if i remember correctly).

I've held all my shares without thinking twice.Have fun!

Spanish Mountain Gold is an advanced gold exploration company based in British Columbia Canada. Our flagship property the "Spanish Mountain Project" is entering the pre-production phase of its development. It is one of the first recognized occurrences of a sediment "hosted" gold system in British Columbia
