What happened to the CAPS blogs?

December 15, 2011 – Comments (6) | RELATED TICKERS: TMF

Dear TMF,

Please do something about the blog updater. It's currently showing the newest blogs as being ones from almost 28 hours ago. Sinchy has posted since then. I know: I read it myself a couple hours ago. It's not updating in my favorites section, either, which is where I go to find what to read next.

This has happened before, and it was something like a week before it was fixed. Are you aware of the problem, and if so, is there a plan for preventing it from recurring in the future?

I've been seeing the new blogs just fine.  Have you cleared your cache?

I posted a blog about this a week or so ago and it's still not fixed.

Are you referring to the list that shows up when you click "View More Blogs"?

The top blogs don't work properly either. The top one has 3 recs... while Sinch's has 12 already and isn't showing.

These could be side effects of them messing with databases and redo-ing web code in the launch of their New Blog Service.. as described below..

"Hi Caps Blogger,

We want to thank you for being a member of the Motley Fool community. Specifically, we want to express our appreciation for your continued contributions on your individual rofgile CAPS Blog.

We also want to let you know about an exciting development from The Motley Fool. We are in the early stages of developing a new platform and a new Motley Fool Blog Network. The idea is to provide a means for outstanding business and investing minds to harness The Motley Fool’s distribution muscle, and reach a dramatically larger audience than they currently can.

We hope to build a system that works well for all of us. In short, bloggers who provide intelligent, insightful, well-written content that makes specific mention of companies and their tickers may now be able to syndicate your content to financial portals and get paid you their efforts.

This new Blog Network is in beta and still feature deficient – it doesn’t yet allow for comments, integrate CAPS ratings, or aggregate on CAPS – so for a while we’ll have the two platforms exist side by side, the CAPS Blogs and the new Blog Network blogs, until we can provide all of the functionality you’ve come to expect.

You can find more details about the Blog Network here, and if you’d like to consider making the jump sooner, then just email us at We’ll send you more details and get you set up on the new system.

Thanks for all your contributions to the Fool so far. We’re looking forward to deepening our relationship with such a great group of Fools.

John Keeling and
The Motley Fool CAPS Team"

Troubles in CAPS seemed to start about around the time I received this email.

Thanks everyone! Rof, it's actually kind of comforting to know that something is happening. Even if we're in for a chunk of frustration between now and then, it's sort of like a light at the end of the tunnel.
